About This Project

  • If you bought your hillside home nestled in the trees, wouldn’t you want your interiors to feel like an extension of that natural beauty?  So did these homeowners as they kept clean lines softened with “no white cabinets” but instead a warm neutral rift cut white oak cabinet juxtaposed with deep ebony counters, backsplash and pantries.  A 3” thick solid walnut double waterfall island top offers a built-in discrete device charger near the corner of the L-shape so a device can sit on top and get charged!  Nature and technology at the same time! Natural quartzite in a leathered finish provides irregular texture as is found in nature. Light and connection to the outdoors was achieved by adding another skylight, new doors, windows and a pass-through to the dining room.  Dogs and cats are also part of the family here, so their food is stored on the back of the island. The walnut counter has an oiled finish so if the cats’ claws scratch it, the top can be sanded, oiled and be brand new again.  Trees, light, breezes, animals and humans all live in peaceful harmony (except for an occasional bark or meow)!
