The homeowners on this project appreciate their beautiful view and wanted to open up the kitchen to the dining room, but also needed lots of storage and counter space. We maximized the space and put the rangetop between the windows that showcase a stunning view so the cooks can prep, cook and clean up while soaking in the natural beauty outside. Given the unique condition of the ceiling, we designed a custom hood to complement the clean lines and materials throughout the rest of the kitchen. A key feature the homeowners are thrilled with is the horizontal grain match across the cabinets, creating a pleasing continuity, as is particularly noticeable on the oven/coffee maker wall. Now the kitchen ends where a wall had once existed between the kitchen and dining room. Providing a place for the beverage refrigerator near the dining table is convenient and glassware for wine and drinks is in the cabinet to the left of the refrigerator. Now instead of looking at a wall from the dining room table, guests can look out to the nearby deck and trees. The peninsula doubles as buffet space. Favorite appliances? Him: the coffee maker. Her: the wine/beverage refrigerator.
